RI Diploma System

Burrillville High School Diploma System The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) has developed requirements to ensure that all students across the state will successfully complete a rigorous high school program that gives them access to college or post-secondary training, whether immediately after high school or when and if they choose.      Requirements for a Burrillville High School Diploma:  
  1. Successful completion of the minimum required coursework credits, both in total and for specific subjects.
  1. Successful completion of comprehensive course assessments and tasks that assure common expectations and proficiencies.   
  1. Successful completion of the Digital Portfolio  and a Digital Portfolio presentation that, when viewed in combination with other graduation requirements, demonstrate that necessary proficiencies are met. 
  1. Completion of state assessments according to a timetable determined by the BoR. Students must participate in tests known as the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP). Students in the class of 2012 must score at least a 2 partially proficient. Students not scoring a 2, will be required to retake the test in their senior year.
  1. Each student will create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) aligned to personal, academic, career and social goals. Students may complete their ILP at www.waytogori.org
