About Burrillville High School

Burrillville, located in the northwestern corner of the state of Rhode Island, was incorporated in 1806.  The population of the town in 2000, according to the Census Bureau figures, was approximately 15,796.  The population is approximately 99% white.  The remainder is composed of Blacks, Hispanics and others.  The 800 students at the high school reflect these same demographics.
        
The students of Burrillville have access to educational programs and services through the community‚Äôs one high school and through those provided at the collegiate level by the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, the Community College of Rhode Island and Johnson and Wales University.  Vocational-technical facilities at the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center provide training for Burrillville students interested in specific programs offered by the respective schools.   The Burrillville School Department offers students the opportunity for distance learning through on-line through Nova Net.

Burrillville High School is located in the village of Harrisville.  It is located within two miles of town government offices, the police station, and a local fire department that provides ambulance services.

Burrillville High School is a comprehensive high school that offers students a variety of academic paths, and provides many extra-curricular opportunities for students.  The students at BHS pursue educational opportunities that are aligned to the Rhode Island Regents Regulations, offer academic rigor, and are designed to meet a diversity of needs.  BHS offers an extensive array of clubs and athletic teams from which students can participate. All athletic teams are part of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, and offer female and male athletes the chance to participate in varsity sports programs.
